Assembly of
bagged V-tail
Suggestion
to glue of the sticking for bagged
V tails,
adaptable to gliders Minij and Prodij gliders (but also in to any other glider of
equivalent size).
For evident obvious reasons of
transport the V-tail are is delivered in 2 parts.
The sticking in 110 ° and the installation of
control horns are in charge to the userthe user will have to glue them together at the
right angle (110°) and place the control horns.
To do it
so, a
piece of glass fabric is supplied, as well as ball links with 2mm metal rod
forced in for the realization of control horns.
A template
in 110 °
shape will be necessary to assemble half athe stab partss together to the right
angle.
Remark:
PRODIJ:
Oas on the Prodij fuselage the base of the
Vtail being
alreadyhas
a V shape, the 2 half stabs can have to be sanded in
bevel (55°), assembled in the
adhesivewith
tape oin
the intrados (Vtail in flat position), and then
stuck on
to the
right angle, edge has to edge by the
extrados.
Only the a band(strip) of glass
fabric in
on the
extrados will turn out necessary, as the intrados of the Vtail will be stuck
on the base without any
need for supplementary reinforcement.
make holes in the intrados of the control surfaces
to insert the control horns (as indicated in the corresponding building
directions glue them with cyano.
Sand the fuselage base and glue the stab on it with cyano.
MINIJ:
First of all, the
2 half tails will be carefully assembled edge to edge in on the extrados by a simple mere piece of adhesive
tape, which has to overtake jut out on both sides to avoidprevent (coulures).the glue from running.
The tail
then is turned over on the template V shape giving the good right angle,; a net thin line of cyano is
applied ion the joint.
Add so as much of cyano thatas necessities necessary (the
accelerator is very practical to make it set faster) to fill in completely the
space between the 2
stabs.
Sand then the base to make it as flat as possible (take care not to not decrease
appreciably
too much the
thickness of the stab in this place what which wcould weaken the
joint).
Place a 2cm wide strip of glass
fabric of
2cm wide on
horseback(by horse) on the joint; tighten (stretch out) the
fabric by Scotch-taping it on every each half of the stab (the adhesive
tape is to be taken put on 1mm of wide of
fabric).
Soak (fill) the
fabric with cyano without excesswith moderation; by
capillarity, the
cyano will infiltrate even into the fabric under the adhesive tape.
removeRemove the adhesive tape once the cyano driesis dry to the touch.
In
On the extrados, remove
the adhesive tape then apply place a 1cm widea band(strip)
of fabric(tissue) of 1cm wide.
Soak (Fill) in it the same way the band(strip) of fabric byand use using a some metal flat(dish)plank (spatula(spoon-bill),
blade of a cutter)
to force the fabric in
to get the necessary angle.
The stab is now assembled in a strong enough way not to not risk to
break in its the middle.
Realize heavy lossesMake holes in the intrados
of the control
surfaces to insert
the control horns
(as indicated in the corresponding building directions). Flood glue them with the cyano.
Sand the fuselage base and glue Stick the stab
on it with cyano.
A leave online of resin + microballoons on each side of the V tail will
strengthen the stickinggluing of the Vtail on
the fuselage.
